This is not to be missed! Sunset at the Alhambra and the San Nicolas Observatory: The Monk Takahiro Ueda's Circumnavigation of the World-Spain Part 28

Last night in Granada.

I decided to go see the Alhambra in the setting sun from the San Nicolas Observatory.

The San Nicolas Lookout is located on a hill in the Albaicin area.

Here is a photo of the Albaicin cityscape taken from the Alcazaba at the Alhambra.

The San Nicolas Lookout is at the end of the arrow in this photo.

This observation deck is at about the same eye level as the Alhambra, which makes it the perfect spot to watch the sunset and night views directly in front of the palace.

We headed to the observatory around 9:30 p.m., when dusk was beginning to fall.

The observatory is crowded with tourists who have come to watch the sunset.

The sun has yet to set, although it is starting to turn a little orange.

Compared to this photo taken in the daytime, you can see the reddish hue has increased, but according to the story, it will turn even more reddish.

Around 9:45 p.m., dusk finally peaks.

The Alhambra Palace in bright red.

Little by little, I could see the redness of the skin increase little by little.

The mountains in the distance also turn red.

Why are sunsets in Spain so beautiful?

Sunset at Campo de CryptanaThe Alhambra Palace is also a world-class sunset spot.

Both were spectacular views that were hard to top.

Just before sunset.

It goes from bright red to dark red.

The sun will be setting soon.

Sunset time is over, so we wait until we can see the Alhambra Palace lit up next.

It doesn't get a sense of illumination until it is completely dark.

The city of Granada is lit up.

Soon it will be time to see the lights beautifully.

The Alhambra is lit up, not yet completely dark but still beautiful.

The Alhambra Palace rises atop a black hill.

It seems as if it is floating in the air.

It was worth the wait to get here.

It was indeed a wonderful view.

Then it occurred to me. I wondered if one of the reasons why the Alhambra is so beautiful at sunset and when lit up is because of the structure of its walls.

The walls of the Alhambra are as flat as Lego blocks.

And the wall color is a calm light brown.

Like a projector screen, it shows the sunset and lights beautifully.

The dark green trees growing right at the foot of the palace create a color contrast with the palace.

The light brown color of the walls, the flat structure, and the contrasting colors of the surroundings are the structures that I visited.Dubrovnik, CroatiaBut it was the beauty I experienced.

I remember the sunsets here were incredible as well.

Well, it is too late at night and I am concerned about security, so I head back to my lodgings.

Walking today.

Down the hill.

Although the Albaicin district, where the observatory is located, is said to be safer than it once was, we were warned to be wary and leave because we had heard that the area was not safe.

We walked back down the hill to an area lined with restaurants.

I think we've come this far and we're ready to go.

If you look up from there, you will see the Alhambra.

Many people were drinking and enjoying the view of the Alhambra Palace from below.

No wonder this is so popular with tourists.

Many people come and go even at almost 23:00.

The night in Spain is just beginning.

However, I cannot drink alcohol, so I went straight to the inn.

Thus ended the last night in Granada.
