Comments from the Publisher

The author, a cultural anthropologist and dean of the Tokyo Institute of Technology's Graduate School of Liberal Arts Research and Education, wrote this work, the starting point of many of his writings, when he visited Sri Lanka for fieldwork in his 20s. Many people today may feel helpless, worrying that they don't need to be there, or blaming others for something going wrong. This book will give you the opportunity to step out of such situations and build relationships with others. It is a book that will make your mind come alive, and it should be read by anyone who wishes to move forward, especially those in the younger generation.

In the previous article, Dr. Noriyuki Ueda's bookExorcisms in Sri Lanka."introduced.

This book was so interesting that I was impressed. In the afterword of the book, he wrote

This book has an inseparable relationship with his first work, "The Network of Awakening" (Katatsumuri-sha, Kodansha + Alpha Bunko). Under the theme of "Heal Me, Heal the World," "Network of Awakening" is a general discussion of "healing," and this book is a discussion of each of the "hidden ka" from exorcism.

This book does not touch on the points covered in the previous book, such as how to heal the world and myself concretely while holding the image of connection, but only from this perspective can "healing" become total, and the Sri Lankan demons will be happy and start dancing. If you feel something after reading this book, please take a look at the previous book, "The Network of Awakening" as well.

I would urge anyone who finds something in this book to also take a look at my previous book, The Network of Awakening."

I was so impressed with "Exorcism in Sri Lanka" that I had no choice but to read it! I immediately reached for "The Awakening Network.

And it is a great answer! This book was a wonderful way to learn about the origin of Dr. Noriyuki Ueda.

In the foreword to the newly reissued edition of this book, Dr. Ueda states: "This book is a bit long, but it is an important part of the book, so I will read it carefully. This is a bit long, but it is an important part of the book, so I will read it carefully.

My life should be more shining, but it is not shining at all.

It should be my life, but why don't I feel like it belongs to me?

The world will not change with or without me. I am really powerless.

Why is it that I find myself complaining all the time? It's his fault or society's fault.

This book is written for you. We want you to shine brighter. I want you to be proud that you are living your own life! I want you to be proud that you are living your life. When you have time to complain about others, talk to them about your dreams.

Yes, the author of this book is quite a nosy person. You can go ahead and tell me if I'm shining or not! I know some of you may be tempted to say, "Well, I'm an incredibly nosy person. But I am an incredibly nosy person, and when I see someone who really wants to live more vibrantly but doesn't, I want to shout, "You have a life that is more like you! I want to live more vividly, but when I see people who don't, I want to shout, "You have your own life to live!

To be precise, I wrote this book out of such overflowing thoughts.

This book was published in 1989. That was more than 30 years ago. I first began writing the manuscript of this book when I was still a student in my twenties, doing fieldwork on exorcism in Sri Lanka. My twenties were a troubled time, full of self-loathing and spinning out of control, but in the foreign country of Sri Lanka, words suddenly came pouring out of me, and it was as if my shell cracked open and I said, "I knew it! I was in a foreign country in Sri Lanka when the words suddenly overflowed and I had a realization that cracked my shell, and this book was written.

Yes, my life was not shining at all, I didn't feel it was my life at all, the world would not change whether I was there or not, I was helpless, and I was always complaining ......, which was me in my 20s. And that was me in my twenties. I was convinced that I could take a step forward from now on! I had to share this with my friends! I wrote this book to share it with my friends.

Is a book written by one young man over thirty years ago a world of the past? No. Read it and you will find that it is a timeless book, full of freshness that will break you out of your shell and bring you alive with energy. Although some of the topics covered are stamped with their time, we did not alter the text in any way to give you a sense of how we faced that era head-on. However, the message of 30 years ago will still reach you strongly today.

Why don't I shine? Why don't I feel like I am living my life? Such awareness has been accelerated by the harsh progress of neoliberalism and performance-based society, and the blackening of society since this book was written. That is why I urge you to read this book in these times. I also hope that you will realize that the "hope" of thirty years ago, described in the latter half of this book, is also connected to the current movement and has become a major trend.

When you shine, the world shines. If you can live your life as you are, your friends will be happy, and everyone will shine. I hope you will receive this simple yet powerful message.

The book itself was written more than 30 years ago. However. Why don't I shine? Why don't I feel like I am living my life? And I hope you will also realize that the "hope" of thirty years ago, described in the second half of the book, has become a major current in the present movement as well."As Dr. Ueda states, "I strongly believe that now is the time for this book to come into play.

We will see in this book what we are suffering from, why we are suffering, and how we can free ourselves from it. I am sure you will gain new insights that will be eye-opening.

As you can probably sense just by reading the quoted portion above, Dr. Ueda's narrative is very easy to read and understand. It is completely different from a list of technical terms and esoteric discussions.

This is a great book that I hope many people will read! I would like to recommend this book as a Buddhist book as well. I felt that what is discussed in this book is Buddhism that does not speak in Buddhist terms. Sri Lanka, where Dr. Ueda did his fieldwork, is truly a Buddhist country. I could feel the origin of Dr. Ueda, who later wrote "Ganbare Bukkyo" in this book. I was very happy to read this book, as I was greatly empowered by "Ganbare Buddhism".

I highly recommend this work. Why not pick up a copy?
