前回紹介したピーター・アクロイドの『シェイクスピア伝』もかなり詳しく時代背景を描写していましたが、この作品はさらに踏み込んだ社会背景、思想状況まで語られていきます。特にエリザベス女王治世化のイギリスと宗教事情についての話はかなり面白いです。

シェイクスピアが生きていた社会はどのようなものだったのかということを知る上で非常に興味深い伝記です。

この伝記はシェイクスピアの生涯を詳しいながらも面白く紹介してくれる作品です。当時のイギリスの時代背景も詳しく解説してくれるのでとてもありがたいです。シェイクスピアという偉人がどのような社会状況の下生まれてきたかを知ることができます。

読み物としてとても面白い作品ですのでぜひおすすめしたい伝記です。

『夏の夜の夢』は有名どころの作品と比べて、たしかに影の薄い作品かもしれませんが、大好きな作品です。

とにかく笑える愛すべき作品です。「スパニエル」、「石垣」がもう愛しくてたまりません。心がふっと軽くなる夢のような楽しい劇です。

シェイクスピア作品でこんなに笑える劇と出会えるなんて思ってもいませんでした。
