Classical Concert at Karlskirche - A must for your stay in Vienna! First experience of authentic music in Austria (5)

Vienna Czech Republic and Austria

Vienna's Best Memory: Classical Concert at Karlskirche. First Experience of Authentic Music: Monk Takahiro Ueda's Circumnavigation of the World - Austria (5)

Only one day of free movement is allowed in Vienna.

How shall we end that day?

After much deliberation, the answer I came up with was a church concert.

Vienna is the home of classical music.

I didn't even know what a "classical music" was, but I wanted to listen to the real classical music.

However, it is awkward to suddenly go to a full-fledged concert that requires a dress code.

So I did some research and found that in Vienna, concerts are held everywhere every day.

One of the concerts that came out as recommended was at Carls Church.

First of all, the church itself is very beautiful.

And the quality of the concerts held there was also reliable.

The show begins at 8:15 p.m.

I set out to arrive 30 minutes early, but it was dusk outside.

Walking through the streets of Vienna at sunset.

The building in the back is Carls Church.

It is only a short 20-minute walk from the city center where St. Stephen's Cathedral is located.

Rather than using the subway, I recommend walking and taking your time to enjoy the beautiful city of Vienna.

Arrive at Carls Church.

The church is characterized by two towers and a temple-like entrance.

It is really beautiful.

It looks different from the churches I have seen so far.

This church is also said to be a baroque church whose construction began in 1713.

The program I will be listening to today is Vivaldi's Four Seasons.

I came here without having studied the song, thinking that if I listened to it, I would probably say, "Oh, this song! I came this far without having done any preparation.

Tickets must be purchased in advance atCarls Church HPAlready pre-ordered and purchased at

There are three ticket prices, ranging from category 1 to 4.

The best seat, Category 1, costs 40 euros. Category 2 seats are 32 euros, and Category 4 seats are 12 euros, but I definitely recommend Category 1.

Only Category 1 seats are reserved and they guarantee up to 13 rows in the front.

In other categories, the seats are unreserved, so if you don't arrive at the church early, you will have a hard time just finding a seat.

There are other reasons why I recommend Category 1, but let's enter the church first.

The first thing that surprised me was the huge sphere suspended in the air and the construction scaffolding.

And even more surprising was the number of customers.

The large church is packed with customers.

It is hard to tell from this picture, but there must be at least 400 people.

There appeared to be about 20 people on the sides and about 25 rows in the front.

That is almost always full.

That's not surprising, as a check of the website reveals that the music here is performed by a fairly full-fledged orchestra.

Expectations are high.

I was in the 8th row from the front. It's a good position to be able to see.

At showtime, the performers enter the hall.

Nine of them played stringed instruments. And one was a piano-like instrument.

At first, I felt a little uneasy because the sound I could hear seemed a little muffled.

Are you okay with this... are these really great people?

However, it soon became clear that such fears were completely unfounded.

Before long, your ears begin to get used to the volume.

Then the soloist comes out to the center.

His performance was truly a dancing violin.

They move their bodies in large movements as if they were dancing to the rhythm and sound of the song.

Even when he was not playing, he was swaying his body to the rhythm of those around him and happily joining in with the chorus.

Yes, they looked like they were having a lot of fun playing.

Before I knew it, I found myself drawn into the soloist's performance.

And that I am enjoying this concert very much.

I was sad to see each song end.

I want to listen to it all the time.

It seemed honest.

I don't understand classical music.

They have no criteria for judging who is good and what is good enough.

But I enjoyed this performance. And I wanted to listen to it all the time.

I find myself clearly drawn into this performance.

If that's the case, why don't you worry about what you're good at or anything like that?

Because it is so much fun.

The performance lasted about an hour.

As soon as the performance ended, the venue was filled with thunderous applause.

I look around and almost everyone is giving me a standing ovation.

I stood up and responded with as much applause as I could muster, hoping not to miss out.

Everyone was so moved and applauded.

I am sure this performance was truly wonderful.

When I return from church, I look up at the ceiling again.

The presence of this sphere is still quite impressive.

I have no idea why this is here.

But frustratingly, this is really beautiful.

The two spheres, one large and one small, create a sense of three-dimensionality and depth, as well as the ceiling painting.

Even if there is a construction scaffold next to the building, you don't feel it at all.

No, even the scaffolding is made to feel like art.

I was afraid of this.

When I went outside, it was already nighttime in Vienna.

The illuminated church sends me off.

The church is reflected in the pond in front of you.

It was reflected on the surface of the water so clearly and three-dimensionally that one might have thought that the building was really in the water.

The scene before me was so beautiful that I could not move from the spot for a while.

What a satisfying way to return home!

It was a really great concert ...

Everything you see in the city is beautiful.

You know... you've got a lot of good qualities, too.

I realize that my feelings toward Vienna have changed a lot.

It seems that my pessimistic mind, which had been pessimistic since the breakup with Prague, has finally begun to recover.

National Opera House

Strolling along the illuminated streets, I return to my hotel.

At any rate, the last night in Vienna thus came to an end.

Very nice concert.

Thanks to them, I was able to finish Vienna with pleasant memories.

The next destination is Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Sarajevo Incident triggered World War I.

Then came the Bosnian conflict in the 1990s.

For me, this country was an inevitable place to consider religion and ethnicity.

Tomorrow they will stay in Sarajevo.

What in the world is waiting for me?
