Second Indian Expedition - Travels to Buddhist sites in India and Sri Lanka

(63) Visiting the grave of Yukio Mishima at Tama Cemetery - Thoughts on Mishima, who continued to question life and death

After visiting the site of Yukio Mishima's suicide at the Ichigaya Memorial Museum, I headed directly to the Tokyo Metropolitan Tama Cemetery.

The purpose is, of course, to visit the grave of Yukio Mishima.

Yukio Mishima has become a huge presence in my life. I wanted to leave for India after greeting Yukio Mishima, who had died a spectacular death.

(54) Sri Lanka's Dostoevsky! Do you know the world famous writer Wickramasinghe?

Sri Lanka's world-renowned author Martin Wickramasinghe. Here was a tremendous writer!

The psychological descriptions are reminiscent of Dostoevsky, the storytelling is like Chekhov's, and the social observations are thorough, Zola-like. This is amazing.

Wickramasinghe's novels will be your best guide to the picture of Sri Lanka. I highly recommend this author.

cucumberYukio Mishima and Japanese Literature

Ryunosuke Akutagawa's "Kappa" Synopsis and Impressions - What happens when you wander into the land of kappa? A satirical masterpiece about modern Japan through a strange other world

Through "The World of Kappa," Akutagawa poignantly questions the state of Japan.

How unique and humorous are each (each and every?) kappa! How unique and humorous each kappa is. And how eerie....

It is horrifying to think that this work was Ryunosuke Akutagawa's desperate protest, a warning for the end of his life. He committed suicide less than a year after the publication of this work.

It will soon be 100 years since the death of Ryunosuke Akutagawa. But even 100 years later, Akutagawa's works have never faded. The power of literature has been passed on to those of us living today.

Beauty and the BeastDreamland Disneyland Research

Disney's Original "Beauty and the Beast" Synopsis and Comments - What are the differences between the Disney version and the original? What are the differences that make the Disney version so appealing?

By reading the original, I was able to see more and more of the beauty of Disney's version of Beauty and the Beast.

We have already seen the finished "Beauty and the Beast," but there must have been extraordinary hard work involved in the creation of this film. I am sure that watching "Beauty and the Beast" with that in mind will give you a different taste. I am finally feeling that this film has become a big part of my life.

It was indeed an interesting read.

A Disneyland TaleDreamland Disneyland Research

Tetsuo Arima, "Disneyland Story: LA-Florida-Tokyo-Paris" - A recommended Disneyland history that gives you the history and the backstory!

This book is a recommended guide that provides an overview of the history of Disneyland from its opening in Anaheim, California in 1955 to Florida, Tokyo, Paris, and Hong Kong.

Nothing brings out the human drama like a theme park project."

This is the essence of what makes this book so interesting. The history of Disneyland itself is incredibly interesting, but it is this that makes this book an exciting work all by itself. I also read it in one sitting.

This book is a work that can be easily picked up in a paperback format, yet is very rich in content. I highly recommend this book not only to Disney fans, but also to those interested in business and non-fiction.

Birth of the department storeFrench Literature, History and Culture

Shigeru Kashima, "The Birth of Department Stores" - Why Do We Want to Buy? What is the secret of learning from the long-established department stores in Paris?

According to Kashima, "department stores are not only a purely capitalistic institution, they are its ultimate expression.

Why is this, he says, because "the inherent capitalist process of buying things not by necessity but by desire is precisely the one triggered by department stores.

In other words, the birth of the department store was so significant that the capitalist system we live under today began here. Why do we "want things"? In this book, we can learn the origin of the desire capitalism that stimulates it.

This book is a very valuable work as a business bible. It is a very stimulating and interesting work of cultural and world history, but it is also an extravagant book in which you can learn about the mechanics of business.

Capitalism and SlaveryBuddhism in Sri Lanka, Nepal and Southeast Asia

Eric Williams, Capitalism and Slavery - The accumulation of wealth through the slave trade and plantations brought about the Industrial Revolution!

This book is famous as a milestone work of historiography that overturned the established theories as expounded in Max Weber's "The Ethics of Protestantism and the Spirit of Capitalism".

The main theme of the book is precisely the argument that capital accumulated through the slave trade and slave plantations is what brought about the Industrial Revolution.

This book was also an exciting look at the course of history on a truly gigantic scale.

Once again, the reading made me realize the complexity and enormity of the world.

It is a superb work that destroys our preconceptions. Why not pick up a copy?

The SDGs through Coffee" - Recommended to learn how the coffee industry, which was in crisis, is now changing!

In my last article, "The Truth About Coffee" by Antony Wilde, I learned about the dark side of the global coffee industry.

I was left scratching my head when I read that book, but in this book, "Coffee to Read the SDGs," I learned about the people and their activities that are struggling to change such a crisis-ridden coffee industry.

The text is easy to read and the book contains many photographs, so it is a work that can be easily picked up. Why not pick up a copy?
