Arrival in Vienna! Impressed by the cityscape that blends history and modernity Monk Takahiro Ueda's Round-the-World Trip - Austria Part 1 (1)

Departing from Prague, we will take an express train called RailJet to Vienna.

The road from the Czech Republic to Austria cuts through a peaceful forest.

From the windows of the car, visitors could enjoy the lush green scenery.

The occasional stream was absolutely beautiful.

Once you pass through the forest, you are now on a vast plain.

Fields spread out all over the area.

Then it was back into the woods.

It takes about 4 hours with such a tranquil view of the countryside.

Finally, we arrived in Vienna.

Platform at Vienna Central Station.

It already has the feel of a modern metropolis.

From here, take the metro to the center of Vienna.

From Vienna Central Station to Stephan Station in the center of the city is 3 stops by subway.

They arrive in no time.

When I stepped out of the subway exit onto the ground, I was surprised to see a surprising sight.

I was taken aback by the unexpectedly modern and contemporary sight.

I had no idea that it was so modern.

I had not done that much preparation for Vienna because I thought of it as a transit point.

Since the image of the city as a place of historical culture and art had preceded me, I had not expected to see so many modern architectures lining the streets.

The building itself has a sense of history, just like in Prague, but the stores in it all look like boutiques.

The street-level stores are usually renovated in a modern way, and if you can't see the upper floors of the building, it looks like a modern building.

To use an analogy, yes, Ginza.

The atmosphere of the buildings, the pedestrian streets, the rows of luxury boutiques and cafes, that cityscape.

I am very sorry to say this about Vienna, but for some reason, this cityscape reminded me of Ginza.

Of course, even so, this is Vienna, the city of flowers.

In the center of the city stands the symbol of Vienna, St. Stephen's Cathedral.

This is the Pest Monument.

Looking at these, you realize that this is not Ginza after all.

Vienna has a fashionable atmosphere. No, it is more like a sophisticated atmosphere.

The atmosphere seems quite different from Prague.

It is certainly beautiful and gorgeous, but for me, it has always seemed like a town with a high threshold.

I can't even bring myself to casually walk into a cafe for a cup of coffee.

I wonder what's going on.

Why do you feel this way?

I immediately thought of it.

I'm still reeling from my breakup with Prague ...

I compare everything I see to Prague.

What is it? It's as if I had just suffered a terrible heartbreak.

I was reminded once again how much I am in love with Prague when I arrived here.

But we can't say that forever.

There is more to see and learn here in Vienna.

I was determined to make the most of this opportunity to explore the city tomorrow.
