Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900)wikipedia.

This time I would like to introduce "Nietzsche's Tale: Its Abyss and Multifaceted World" edited by Jiro Watanabe and Mikiji Nishio, published by Yuhikaku in 1980.

Let's take a quick look at this book. I will quote from the Preface.

Nietzsche's world is indeed a rich one. Because Nietzsche's world is so deep that it cannot be easily understood, it has been read in different ways at different times.polyhedron,,It is. Perhaps it will continue to be read in a different way as the current trends of thought change. There are as many Nietzsche's as there are problems to be tackled. Is Nietzsche a philosopher? Of course one should think so, but Nietzsche cannot be cleared up with the existing knowledge of philosophy. Is Nietzsche a man of literature? This is also true, but no. Is he then a religious man? Is he a classical scholar? A philosopher of history? An educator? A language thinker? If you ask ......, you will have to answer that Nietzsche is all of them, but none of them.

Who is Nietzsche?"

This may be an eternal theme.

Nietzsche appears differently depending on the time period in which he is read and the differences among the readers.

This book is a reference to think about Nietzsche, who is supposed to be such a "polymath".

The editors describe the book's features as follows

I have come to think that the method of shedding light on Nietzsche from various angles and by many hands, and unintentionally bringing his image to light at the focal point of the intersection of these bundles of light, may be an appropriate method for studying this thinker. This is because Nietzsche is an existence that cannot be organized from a single perspective or within a single specialized framework, and both in Europe and Japan, any attempt to give a definitive answer to Nietzsche's fundamental problem has almost always failed and quickly become out of date. There is no such relative Nietzsche book in Europe as yet, which throws out a pluralistic picture of Nietzsche in a disjointed way, but for the reasons just mentioned, it is not hard to say that it has produced interesting results, unexpectedly suited to the task of Nietzsche studies. Nietzsche studies are now entering a new phase in Germany and France. This book has been produced with the cooperation of leading experts who are familiar with the latest academic research and who have spent many years struggling to read and understand Nietzsche. It is also unique in that it has contributions from leading specialists in a wide range of adjacent disciplines, including aesthetics, Greek classics, French literature, religious studies, history, musicology, and psychiatry.

As will be discussed here, each item in this book is written by many experts.

The table of contents will make this clear.

And thankfully, it is not merely a commentary on Nietzsche, but also on his relationship to the writers and philosophers with whom he is associated.

As you can see in the table of contents on the first page, there is also a reference to Dostoevsky. I appreciated this very much.

The book also provides a concise overview of Nietzsche's life and ideological aspects, making it a very useful reference book in times of need.

Although I feel that it is somewhat tough to read through, it is a very helpful reference book when you want to refer to your area of interest.

The above is "The Nietzsche Story: Its Abyss and Multifaceted World," edited by Jiro Watanabe and Kanji Nishio, a groundbreaking Nietzsche reference book.
